Southwest Airlines uniforms (1981)

Loving you is what we do! The lovely ladies above can love me all they want. I love latently sexist single entendre of ads from this era. The tag line might as well be “you’ll probably get laid your flight.” I’m definitely digging the short shorts, go-go boots and string ties on these ladies! Beats the heck out of their plain jane “uniforms” now- or is that Plane Jane? Get it?! I’m brilliant.

The good folks at Archive.org offer this gem of social guidance instruction made in the veritable golden age of masturbation fantasies. One niggling complaint: some of these aspiring career ladies need much sterner discipline. Errors and inefficient typing speeds must be firmly corrected with a vigorous paddling.

You can turn my mimeograph crank anytime, babydoll.

Pent up dames as far as the leering eye can see.

must…not…stare at those gams.

midcentury Levi’s silkscreened banner (1950s)

yo yo yo, caught this on the Antiques Roadshow, by far my guiltiest pleasure on television. This silkscreened on denim banner came out of a general store in Camp Verde, Arizona and was valued at $1800-2000. I guess that episode was a rerun from 2006, so I would expect to go for slightly less now, but holy shit, I would LOVE to own that thing! This bad larry is 10 feet long and from the 1950s.

UFOs and The Space Brothers (1983)

from the pages of The Weekly World News, 1983. There’s some trance band called The Space Brothers, so don’t take that as a band name.

Look at the size of those…speakers. Surely a less than practical way to share the Pointer Sisters whilst roller skating on the pier at Venice.

Grabbed from my addiction, Google Books, which has expended countless manhours and server space to preserve the ridiculous, such as this, to the sublime, such as long out of print and rare books. This particular gem appeared in the April 1983 issue of Orange Coast Magazine.
